Mogo Trails Officially Unleashes 125km of Thrilling Mountain Biking

Mogo, Batemans Bay, NSW – Thursday, 8 May 2025: Mountain biking enthusiasts are set to rejoice as the fully expanded Mogo Trails network, a project four years in the making, prepares to open its impressive 125 kilometres of trails this Saturday, 10 May. From its initial 10-kilometre loop, the network now stretches through the stunning bushland of Mogo, Batehaven, and out to Mount Wandera. The anticipation for the completed network has been building, with the region already experiencing a surge in riders eager to explore the trails.

Rocky Trail Destination Celebrates Milestone Completion of Mogo Trails

Rocky Trail Destination, the principal contractor for the implementation of the Mogo Trails network, is thrilled to announce a huge milestone – the imminent opening of the fully expanded 125-kilometre trail system this Saturday, 10 May. Over the past four years we have worked in collaboration with Eurobodalla Shire Council and our key construction partner Next Level MTB. We’re immensely proud to have delivered the building permit, detailed design, and project managed the construction of these world-class trails. The opening of the new eastern trails, the skills park, and particularly the challenging ‘Burnaaga’ trail on Mount Wandera, marks a significant milestone. We’re confident Mogo Trails will not only become a must-visit for mountain bikers of all levels but also a vital economic driver for the region.

“This is a momentous occasion for the region and a testament to the dedication and collaboration of all involved,” said Martin Wisata, the Mogo Trails Project Manager at Rocky Trail Destination. “Witnessing the growth of Mogo Trails into a premier mountain biking destination has been incredibly rewarding. We are particularly excited about the new additions, including the challenging ‘Burnaaga’ trail on Mount Wandera, which will offer a unique and thrilling experience for experienced riders.”

The completion of Mogo Trails marks a significant step in establishing the Eurobodalla region as a leading mountain biking destination. Adding to this momentum, sister company Rocky Trail Entertainment is set to launch the Sea Otter Australia Mountain Bike Festival in Batemans Bay and Mogo Trails this October. This global festival has already garnered significant industry enthusiasm, with over 150 leading brands committing to exhibit and run bike and product demonstrations directly on the newly completed trails.

Anticipated to draw 8,000 participants, including 2,000 competitive athletes and riders, in its inaugural year, Sea Otter Australia is projected to inject an estimated $3.5 to $4 million into the local visitor economy. Positioned internationally as part of the prestigious North American and European Sea Otter brand network, this event, spearheaded by Rocky Trail Entertainment, will firmly establish the Eurobodalla region as a global cycling destination, attracting riders and industry leaders from around the world.

Juliane Wisata, co-owner of Rocky Trail Destination and Sea Otter Australia CEO said that bringing this global festival to the region, alongside the already established Narooma trails, will create a powerful synergy. “As local business owners, we envision this establishing a global bike festival brand right here in Australia, attracting national and international riders and showcasing the exceptional riding experiences this region has to offer”, she said.

The launch of Mogo Trails and the upcoming Sea Otter Australia event truly puts this region on the map for mountain biking, Juliane Wisata added. “We’ve seen the passion and dedication from the local community and Eurobodalla Shire Council, and we’re excited to play a part in amplifying that. The diversity of the trails, from beginner-friendly loops to the expert-level ‘Burnaaga’, ensures there’s something for everyone. We believe the combination of these high-quality trails and a globally recognized event like Sea Otter will create a vibrant and sustainable mountain bike tourism industry, benefiting local businesses and showcasing the natural beauty of the area.”

The Rocky Trail owners confirmed that registration for the eight competitive mountain bike races at Sea Otter Australia and festival will open later this month and also Eurobodalla Mayor Mathew Hatcher says the excitement over Mogo Trails keeps growing.

“Since opening part of the network last August, we’ve seen an influx of riders keen to explore the trails – over the Easter holidays it felt like every second car had bike racks,” Mayor Hatcher said.

“As we head into the cooler months, the mountain bike trails at Mogo as well as Narooma will continue drawing visitors, keeping them active outdoors and supporting our local businesses.

“The newly finished trails will be ready to ride on Saturday, but we’re also planning a community event in July as part of a grand opening celebration – details coming soon.”

Mogo Trails Council Project Manager Shane Spicer said five new trails and a skills park have been added to the eastern side of Mogo Trails, and a 28-kilometre trail will be opening on the western side – as well as a shuttle service to be announced soon.
