About Rocky Trail Destination

Nature Based Tourism (NBT) is a Supersector in Australia, often underestimated and misunderstood, until now.

Across Australia, many regional towns with rich histories and impeccable landscapes are facing major challenges, such as losing jobs, losing population, old world industry dependency and shrinking economies. The rise in nature based tourism, active trail-based holidays and bicycle tourism can not only reverse these impacts, but build a rejuvenated and stronger local economy and with it, the community. Today, families, couples and groups are looking to experience a wide variety of active options combined with leisure, local produce and cultural experiences.

Our Objective

We help councils, clubs, tourism organisations and state governments embrace the nature based tourism opportunity at all stages of the destination maturity curve.

We are here for the growth of destination visitation through leveraging natural assets and community cohesion, in all forms of off-road trail exploration including mountain biking, Rail Trails, e-biking and walking/hiking. Our Core Team

Rocky Trail Destination was created by a team of entrepreneurs and travellers, bicycle enthusiasts and experienced event managers who are dedicated to making nature based trail and bicycle holidays accessible for people of all abilities and preferences.

Our owners Juliane and Martin Wisata are passionate out the growth of regional tourism in Australia by developing mountain bike destinations. They amplify their passion for trail-based activities as an extension of their event delivery venture. Our sister company, Rocky Trail Entertainment, which is one of the major private mountain bike event promoters in Australia with close to 50 races along the East Coast. Over the past decade the business has established itself as one of the major private mountain bike event promoters in the country. We look beyond the finish line, offering a powerful promotional platform for sponsors and destination partners.

We assembled a team from a variety of backgrounds, harnessing decades of experience in strategic brand marketing, promotional campaign and event management, as well as destination development. We have been working primarily with regional and rural locations to build presence, assets and awareness. We bring a diverse approach to event management as well as trail development, and destination promotion experience together with underlying social physics methodology to provide a more integrated solution than the visitor economy alone.

The business has secured the license to establish Sea Otter Australia, which will be launched in October 2025. – Rocky Trail Entertainment will host the World’s Largest Cycling Festival and establish the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The event will establish the first and only industry tradeshow & expo of that scale in the country in Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast. The festival will also have a huge line-up of racing and riding on the 130km Mogo Trails, built by Rocky Trail Destination! With a summit and entertainment all in one in and around the Mogo Trails in the Eurobodalla Region it will be the place to be and where the world comes to celebrate cycling. It will put the Mogo Trails and the NSW South Coast on the global map of mountain bike destinations.

Currently Rocky Trail Destination’s major project is the planning and implementation of the Mogo Trails, a major MTB trail network on the NSW South Coast. This includes the management of construction, protection of ecological and cultural heritage values and community engagement.
