Rocky Trail Destination supports establishment of MTB Futures Alliance in the Eurobodalla

Driving the Economy from the Dirt Up: Introducing the Mountain Bike Futures Alliance

The Eurobodalla region has officially stepped onto the global mountain biking stage. With the massive momentum of the Mogo Trails, the established legacy of the Narooma Trails, and major international milestones like securing the Sea Otter Australia Festival, our region has a rare, world-class asset right in our backyard.

But building great trails is only step one. Keeping them at a world-class, premium standard requires a unified voice, constant advocacy, and a community that refuses to let the momentum slide.

That is why Rocky Trail Destination, Rocky Trail Entertainment and Sea Otter Australia, together with Batemans Bay MTB Club, Narooma MTB Club, and Southbound Escapes have come together to initiate the Mountain Bike Futures Alliance.

We are calling on local businesses, tourism operators, event organisers, and regional stakeholders to join us. If your business benefits directly or indirectly from the influx of riders to our region, this alliance is for you.

Who We Are & What We Want to Achieve

The Mountain Bike Futures Alliance is currently being formed to unite everyone who understands the profound economic and community value of the Narooma and Mogo trail networks.

Our goal is straightforward: we want to ensure these trails receive the strategic support, professional operations, and sustainable funding they deserve so they can continue to foster local community engagement, reward local investment and attract visitors to the Eurobodalla economy. We want to make sure our local networks don’t just survive, but actively thrive among similar major trail networks being developed across Australia right now.

The Vision

To ensure that our local trails (Mogo Trails and Narooma Trails) remain a world-class destination where a premium ride experience fuels a thriving local economy. We see a future where our trails are the gold standard of Australian mountain biking, driving consistent investment, rewarding local grit, and serving as the beating heart of a vibrant, prosperous Eurobodalla community.

The Mission

To “bridge the gap” between the dirt and the boardroom by being the collective voice of the local trail-based visitor and broader economy.

How We Will Get It Done

To keep our trail networks performing at the highest level, the Alliance focuses on four core pillars:

  • Advocating: We are pushing for high-level resourcing and expert, professional maintenance and operations. For a network designed to be a globally significant asset, operations must match that world-class ambition.
  • Connecting: Bringing together trail users, business owners, operators, and decision-makers to convert trail traffic into measurable local growth.
  • Proving: Collating real-world feedback and hard visitor data to clearly demonstrate the scale of employment and economic activity connected to MTB tourism. This data will guide council resourcing and investment decisions.
  • Protecting: Safeguarding the reputation of our local networks so our region remains a premier, must-ride destination for generations to come.

No Financial Catch, Just Collective Power

Joining the Mountain Bike Futures Alliance does not require a financial contribution. It is completely free to join.

Instead, the currency of this alliance is collaboration. As a member, we may occasionally ask you for visitor data, business feedback, letters of support, or participation in brief meetings to help us build a consolidated case to take to decision-makers.

Rest assured, any data or operational information you share with us is strictly used to demonstrate the economic scale of MTB tourism for advocacy and planning purposes. It will never be shared publicly without your explicit permission.
